Tennessee; Honky-Tonk Central"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our visit to Nashville has it&#8217;s own creation story.\u00a0 My favorite musical artist is a guy named Steven Wilson, who is quite prolific in both creating his own progressive rock, as well as an expert in mixing older albums into 5.1 surround sound, and now Atmos surround sound.\u00a0 I became a fan of his when I purchased his first surround album about 15 years ago (In Absentia) from his previous band <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Porcupine_Tree\">Porcupine Tree<\/a>, <\/strong>with it&#8217;s very creepy album cover.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/In-Absentia.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10498\" src=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/In-Absentia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1500\" (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to about 2 years ago, while I was searching for Steven&#8217;s music video&#8217;s (which are really excellent) on YouTube, I misspelled his name, searching instead for <strong>Stephen<\/strong> Wilson, and ran across Stephen Wilson Jr.\u00a0 Who the hell is this guy?\u00a0 Kim and I listened to a few of his songs, and have been completely enthralled with him ever since.\u00a0 He&#8217;s a mixture of country and folk with some rock thrown in.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Stephen Wilson Jr., HARDY - Father\u2019s S\u00f8n (Acoustic)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/h6lhSOzsjMw\" width=\"846\" height=\"476\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>About 6 months ago tickets for his current concert tour went on sale, and they weren&#8217;t expensive ($25 each), so we bought some for his performance in Glasgow, Kentucky, thinking if we didn&#8217;t end up going it was no great loss.<\/p>\n<p>Well here we are, in Nashville, about two hours away from Glasgow, spending 3 days in the &#8220;County Music Capital of the World&#8221; before heading to Glasgow.\u00a0 We arrived last night, and shortly after checking in we headed over to Broadway, where the bulk of the local action is.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250215_183455-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10499\" src=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250215_183455-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"2560\" srcset=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250215_183455-scaled.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250215_183455-225x300.jpg 225w, \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s lit up like Vegas, but without the casinos.\u00a0 Broadway is lined with honky-tonk after honkey-tonk&#8230;.where music is being performed on three different floors, most of them with rooftop bars.\u00a0 The definition of honky-tonk is &#8220;a cheap noisy bar or dance hall&#8221;.\u00a0 They are definitely noisy, but Nashville is not cheap!\u00a0 This is a shot of Broadway from a rooftop bar at a honkey-tonk called <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/olered.com\/nashville\/\">&#8220;Ole Red&#8221;<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250215_190340-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was warm inside so we found a seat outside and listened to a country duet performing on that level.\u00a0 Behind the bar is the downtown headquarters of AT&amp;T is known as the Batman Building.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250215_185125-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Directly across the street from Ole Red are the honkey-tonk&#8217;s owned by hit country artists Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.<\/p>\n<p><a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The spots on Broadway weren&#8217;t nearly as busy as I thought they would be, particularly with it being a Saturday night, but then again I&#8217;ve heard the bulk of the crowds show up late.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250215_205647-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We ventured into Garth Brooks fairly new honky-tonk, Friends in Low Places.\u00a0 The bottom level was quite busy, so we went up to the rooftop bar, only to be met with c&#8221;rap&#8221; from a DJ.\u00a0 Not our thing!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/petersontravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/20250215_205925-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" tonight!\u00a0 Right now we are off to the Frist Museum.\u00a0 Hopefully we don&#8217;t freeze on the way&#8230;it&#8217;s 34 degrees outside, after being over 60
