As mentioned in a prior post, Ireland and Scotland have been a top Bucket List item since we retired. We are finally making it happen to coincide with a friends 50th Birthday celebration. Our friend William and his wife Myra are still working folks, so they are coming over for 9 days at the end of our trip. We will be spending a little more than 6 weeks ourselves. We have been twice as my husband has family in Northern Ireland – Armagh. It is a lovely small area with rolling hills and friendly people. If you so go as far as Belfast, you should add The Giants Causeway – incredible rock formations with a lot of wonderful stories. We loved the Ring of Kerry and Dingle. We also stayed at Waterford Castle which was beautiful and you have to take a short car ferry ride to it. The Waterford Crystal factory tour is amazing. Thanks for the comment Barbara! We are planning to drive from Donegal to Belfast via Londonderry and Giant’s Causeway so we can spend an hour or two there. Not sure when we’ll get back to Northern Ireland so I figured the drive was worth it. My brain should be well wired to drive on the wrong side of the road by that point!
